  • How to use the Records
    The cards are arranged in alphabetical order by teacher surname. Researchers need to consult the Records Description List to ascertain which unit(s) they are interested in.

  • Function / Content
    This series of cards was created by the Technical Teachers Registration Board and subsequently by the Teacher Registration Board in order to register all technical school teachers approved to teach in the state of Victoria.

    The cards record the name and date-of-birth of the teacher, the teachers tertiary qualifications and the date registration was granted.

    Information appearing on some, but not all, of the cards includes an Education Department record number, and the date of resignation from the Departments employ.

    In the top left-hand corner of the card is a file number, relating to each teachers application for registration file which was maintained by the Employment Assessment Centre. These files have been destroyed.

    It should be noted that just because a teacher was registered, this did not mean that they actually taught in Victoria.

  • Recordkeeping System
    The cards are filed in card index boxes in alphabetical order by teacher surname, with surname range on the outside of the box.
