  • How to use the Records

  • Function / Content
    This series contains project files of various school program units within the Department of Education for the period 1981-1996.

    The areas included are:

    Early Years of Learning
    Gender Equity Unit
    Gifted Education Unit
    Koorie Education Unit
    Vocal Education Unit

    The content of the files reflects the functions of the school program units.

  • Recordkeeping System
    This is an artificial series created when the records were transferred to the Public Record Office of Victoria in 1997.

    As no recordkeeping system existed for these files, a system had to be manufactured. The records are arranged initially by the name of the school program unit and then, for each program alphabetically by subject matter. In many cases there was no indication of the subject matter on the file. When the records were processed the contents were examined to determine the subject matter.

    The P2 consignment contains videotapes relating to particular projects.
