How to use the Records
Scan the Record Description List to locate the required General Ledger.
Function / Content
The General Ledger provided a summary of all the financial transactions for each accounting period. The cash amounts from the general cashbooks were posted on a weekly/monthly basis under different subject headings of accounts detailing income and expenditure.
Recordkeeping System
The General Ledgers are arranged chronologically. Each volume varies with regard to the date range it covers. There are considerable gaps and overlaps, e.g., between units 3 and 4 and 4 and 5.
