  • How to use the Records
    The cards were arranged alphabetically by the surnames of employees within years. Refer to the Consignment Details to retrieve the unit for the appropriate year and name.

  • Function / Content
    The series summarised the salary history of tramway employees during the period 1946 to 1984.

    The information recorded includes:
    - Name and occupation of the employee
    - Date of birth
    - Date of appointment and resignation
    - Position held and salary drawn per week. Often leave cards are stapled to service history cards.

  • Recordkeeping System
    The record cards were arranged alphabetically by the surnames of employees within years. Resigned /retired employee cards were culled periodically.
