How to use the Records
Consult the relevant years for the reports that are arranged in chronological order.
Function / Content
The annual report provides an account of the activities and financial statements of the Forests Commission Victoria for the particular financial year. The preparation of the report and its tabling before both Houses of Parliament is required under section 35 of the Forests Act 1958 (No. 6254). In particular, the document should be
(a) a report of its proceedings during the financial year with respect to-
- the demarcation of State forests by survey, including the character, quality and valuation of timber
- the renewal and improvement of State forests
- working plans
- the protection of State forests from fire, animals, pests and other causes of damage
- the planting and sowing of State forests
- the utilization, development and marketing of forest produce (including by-products) and
- the training and instruction of persons appointed or employed by the Commission including cadets, trainees, apprentices, workmen and labourers
(b) a financial statement for the year
(c) estimates for the ensuing year of the principal forest works proposed to be undertaken and of the moneys likely to be required for carrying into effect the provisions of the Act
(d) a statement with respect to such other matters as are prescribed.
