    This series consists of volumes detailing summary information about persons nominated for appointment as the Justices of the Peace (often abbreviated as JP).

    Information included name of the nominee, the nominator and the address of the nominated JP.

    Documentation relating to a Justice's appointment may be found in other sources, notably VPRS 7744 Staff Appointment Books and the Victorian Government Gazette. Papers were also originally included in VPRS 266 Inward Registered Correspondence.
