  • How to use the Records
    Use this card index to obtain the drawing number for the plan of interest within VPRS 16221 General Plans (Aperture Cards). This index also provides access to the summary details of the general plans which are located within VPRS 16667 General Plan Registers.

  • Function / Content
    The purpose of this card index was to provide access to plans located in VRS 16621 as well as the summary details of the plans located in VPRS 1667 General Plan Registers.

    The cards record the following details:
    - Title as shown on plan, with the relevant keyword for the index sequence underlined
    ;- Serial/Plan Number
    ;- Sheet Number in drawing set
    ;- Number of sheets in set
    ;- Surveyor name (if applicable)
    ;- Scale of final plan presentation
    ;- Date of survey / plan
    ;- Draughtsman name
    ;- Drawn on (medium used i.e. paper, plastic, herculene or linen)
    ;- Print Draw Number (subject to further research)
    ;- Issued to (record of person plan was issued to
    ;- Remarks / general comments.

  • Recordkeeping System
    The arrangement of categories in the index cards is idiosyncratic and the researcher might need to try more than one search angle (i.e. location and activity) to locate a specific plan.

    Due to the idiosyncratic indexing system it is difficult to determine whether the index covers all the microfilmed plans in VPRS 16621.
