  • Function / Content
    These records provide an alphabetical index to summaries of inquests heard by the Melbourne Coroner found in VPRS 7659 Record of Melbourne Inquest Books. Contents of that series commenced in 1920 although these indexes date from 1901.

  • Recordkeeping System
    Entries detail the name of the deceased and annual single case number. Case numbers found for the last entries in 1959 relate to the file found in VPRS 10010 Body Cards. The case numbers in this index do not control the Index Deposition Files found in VPRS 24. These are controlled by VPRS 23 (Microfilm copy of VPRS 1920).
