  • How to use the Records
    This series consists of a record of contributions to the War Savings Certificates Trust Fund by the employees of the Licenses Reduction Board.

    The Trust Fund was an interest-bearing savings scheme designed to raise Government credit for the war effort. The paymaster/accountant for the relevant office would deduct fortnightly amounts from contributors' salaries and on reaching a total deduction of 16/- a certificate would be requested from State Treasury and issued to the contributor.

    The volume is arranged by contributor's surname and records the date of salary payment, the amount deducted, the date the certificate was received and the certificate number. The contributor's signature was also required as proof of receipt of the Certificate. The volume also contains loose-leaf requisition forms which were used as a record of requisitions made by the office.
