How to use the Records
Volume detailing persons appointed as Deputy Coroners. Deputy Coroners were normally appointed to lessen the workload of the coroner appointed to serve a particular area. Duties appear to usually entail investigating deaths of a non suspicious nature.
Information found in these volume is arranged in two alphabetical sequences although the same detail is found in both. The first sequence is arranged by surname, the other by location. Entries in the surname sequence refer users to the location sequence.
Entries detail the name (or location) of the Deputy Coroner, the date of appointment and an annual single number. This number refers the user to a correspondence file found in VPRS 266 Inward Registered Correspondence.
