    SPECIAL NOTE: Users wishing to obtain trading company registration numbers are advised to first consult VPRS 8268.

    This series was created as an index to defunct registered trading company registrations. As a result the series provides a means of entry into both VPRS 932 Trading Company Registration Files and VPRS 8269 Registers of Trading Companies.

    Entries detail the date of deregistration, name of company, trading company registration number and, for companies with multiple page entries within VPRS 8269, the folio (or page number) of the last entry for that company.

    The first volume in this series was established in 1907 and indexed all companies which had been deregistered (ie. become defunct) from 1864 to 1907. The entries for this period are in strict alphabetical order. Entries continued to be added to that volume until 1928 as companies were deregistered. These entries and the entries in the later volume are made within alphabetical divisions but are not in strict alphabetical order.

    A volume spanning the period 1928-1956 is missing and assumed to have been destroyed.

    The indexes in this series are in a very fragile condition. Users wishing to obtain trading company registration numbers are therefore advised to consult VPRS 8268, which indexes all defunct trading company registration numbers prior to the end of 1990.
