  • How to use the Records
    1. Consult VPRS 11354/P1 Teachers Cards (Non-Government Schools) for the application number allocated to the person.

    2. Consult Consignmentsfor the unit containing the number of the file for which information is required.

  • Function / Content
The Teachers and Schools Registration Board (VA 2309) and the Council for Public Education (VA 2310) were responsible for the determination of the fitness to teach and the registration of teachers in non-Government schools and private practice. The files in this series consist of the application for registration of these teachers and may include correspondence both outwards and inwards relating to that registration. Inwards correspondence may include supporting reference regarding the applicant with respect to their health and character.

On the front of forms are notations of the allocated number given the teacher, whether the person was deemed fit to teach and in what division - sub-primary, primary, secondary or private practice. In the actual application are given the name and address of the applicant, their employment history and classification, their qualifications literary and academic and as a teacher and notes regarding the compulsory fee to be paid.

  • Recordkeeping System
The files are arranged in application number order.
