  • How to use the Records
    Peruse the entire book to find information on the schools that you are interested in. Note that for school numbers 1 -717 the schools are in alphabetical order.

  • Function / Content
    The book is simply a school location book for schools, numbers 1 - 4696, in existence between c1930 and c1950. The book belonged to the Teachers Branch of the Education Department.

    It lists the school name, school number, and the Inspectors district in which the school resides. Some entries have been over-written with comments such as: closed 16.5.45, or consolidated 11.10.49, in which case a new school number, written in red ink and placed in brackets, has been added.

  • Recordkeeping System
    The information in the book is entered in school number order. Schools are numbered in alphabetical order from numbers 1 - 717.
