How to use the Records
Locate a teacher's name either by searching sequentially through the early entries (teachers on loan from teacher's colleges) or find a teacher by the number of the school from which they are on loan. Researchers should consult the Index to Schools, held in Public Record Office Victoria reading rooms, to ascertain the roll number of the school(s) they require. The alpha-numerics in the columns at the extreme left and right are the page numbers of related entries. The related entries share a school number, perhaps indicating that one teacher is replacing another, who is in turn on secondment to a further school. Without dates or column headers it is difficult to determine the relationship.
There are no dates anywhere in the volume, but the book appears to have been kept c.1950s - c.1970s.
Function / Content
The Teachers on Loan book was created to document teaching placements of individuals from various teacher colleges or schools.
None of the columns have headers, but they contain:
Alpha-numeric number (link to page number of related entry)
School / school number

This series was transferred to PROV from the Education History Unit of the Department of Education and Training.
Recordkeeping System
The early entries are arranged in alphabetical order by teacher college name. The other entries are ordered by school number.
