  • How to use the Records
    Refer to the index VPRS 16281 to get the file reference number.

    Once you have the file reference number from the index consult the consignment details for this series to retrieve the unit containing the files with numbers for which information is required.

  • Function / Content
    Writs of Mandamus command the person to whom it is addressed to perform the act in question or to show cause why the act has not been performed. A Writ of mandamus is usually issued to compel the performance of a public duty.

    This series consists of the files relating to Writs of Mandamus issued in the Supreme Court. A file may contain the Writ of Mandamus, the Brief, affidavits in support of the application for the Writ, Rules Nisi and Absolute in relation to the matter and Statements of Costs.

  • Recordkeeping System
    Files were arranged in consecutive number order until 1985. In 1985 the system of arrangement changed to an annual single number system. The Index to this series VPRS16281 provides the file reference number.
