How to use the Records
RESEARCHERS PLEASE NOTE:
Although the P0 consignment of this series is listed by item, researchers must order an entire unit (box), the records are not available for order as individual items.
The files in this series are described and listed as individual files in the Consignment Details pages. They are also listed in the Microfiche Lands Catalogue created by the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (refer to VPRS 7311 and 7312). This microfiche is available to the public in the PROV Reading Rooms.
Function / Content
These files detail the correspondence to the Chief Commissioner of Crown Lands. Extensive research into this series is still required.
Recordkeeping System
The file number is an annual single number. The first number is the year of registration and the second is the registration number allocated within that year.
All of the files in this series were listed by the Department of Crown Lands and Survey in the mid 1980s. (Copies of the data entry sheets produced during this project will be found within the boxes of this series.) The Department included information from these sheets, as well as similiar information for a number of other Lands Department series, within two microfiche indexes, VPRS 7311 and 7312, that were produced in 1986. Both sets of microfiche are available to the public in PROV Reading Rooms. Each set contains broadly similar information but the order of entries differs; entries in VPRS 7311 are in file number order and entries in VPRS 7312 are in parish or township order.
