Description of this SeriesDescription of this Series
  • How to use the Records
Consult the Records Description List for the unit containing the number range of bonds for which information is required.

  • Function / Content
Persons to whom letters of administration for a deceased estate are granted are required, under the Administration and Probate Act to execute a bond with two sureties as security for their administration of the estate. The amount of the bond was related to the amount at which the deceased estate was sworn with the Court being given the powers to vary the amount and terms of the bond. To fulfil the terms and conditions of the bond, an inventory of the deceased estate and accounting of its administration was to be lodged with the Master in Equity within a specified time period.

This series consists of the administration bonds lodged with the Supreme Court by persons administering deceased estates under a grant of Letters of Administration.

  • Recordkeeping System
Bonds are allocated numbers progressively in series of 1000. The numbering system is the same as that found in VPRS 28 Probates and Administration Files. There is no index in custody for this series as at October 1999.
